Video
Porous asphalt reduces impervious areas, recharges groundwater, improves water quality and
eliminates the need for detention basins and sand filters. It also provides a useful purpose besides
storm water management and can save you up to 30 percent on your site construction cost.
Design
- No-woven fabric
- 18" to 24" of clean stone
- 4" to 6" of porous asphalt
- Rock depth depends on storage needed
Construct
- Shorter construction cycle
- Do not compact subgrade
- Static drum roll asphalt to maintain voids
Save
- Reduction in MSD storm water run-off charges
- Reduce or eliminate: detention/retention systems, concrete curbs,
storm drains, rain gardens
- Costs less to maintain (less snow removal, no seal coating, fewer repairs)
- Typical lifespan of over 20 years
- Qualify for LEED credits
