Soil Stabilization Contractors

Byrne & Jones Construction

A Midwest Soil Stabilization Company

Byrne & Jones is a commercial soil stabilization company serving the Midwest since 1976. Our crews improve weak, wet, or unstable subgrade soils by blending stabilizing agents — cement, lime, or fly ash — into the soil to an engineered depth, creating a base strong enough to support roadways, parking lots, industrial pads, and buildings without settling or failure.

Two things separate us from other soil stabilization contractors. First, we self-perform the work with our own crews and specialized equipment fleet — spreader trucks, Wirtgen 2400 reclaimers, and compaction equipment — rather than brokering it out. Second, our proprietary cement slurry mix design eliminates dust: where dry spreading throws a cloud over neighboring businesses and roadways, our slurry process applies the agent wet, keeping your site clean, your neighbors happy, and your project running in conditions that would shut dry spreading down.

Our Soil Stabilization Process

  1. Site evaluation & soil analysis. We assess the existing subgrade, moisture conditions, and load requirements to determine whether stabilization is the right solution — and which stabilizing agent fits your soil and schedule. Evaluations are free.
  2. Mix design. Based on the soil analysis, we specify the cement, lime, or fly ash application rate. Where dust control matters — occupied sites, adjacent businesses, environmental requirements — we use our proprietary cement slurry mix.
  3. Spreading & mixing. Spreader trucks place the stabilizing agent at the engineered rate, and our Wirtgen 2400 reclaimers blend it into the soil to the specified depth.
  4. Compaction & grading. Padfoot and smooth-drum rollers compact the treated soil, and our blade crews grade to final elevation.
  5. Testing & verification. Density and strength verification confirm the stabilized section meets the engineered specification before paving or construction begins on top of it.

What are the benefits of  Soil Stabilization?

6

Improve Soil Strength

Soil stabilization increases the strength of soil, making it more capable of supporting heavy loads and preventing settling or collapse.

6

Increased Efficiency

Soil stabilization can reduce the need for multiple construction phases, as the stabilized soil can be used immediately for construction without the need for additional preparation or treatment.

6

Increase Load-Bearing Capacity

Soil stabilization can increase the load-bearing capacity of soil, making it suitable for use in construction projects that would otherwise require more expensive foundation systems.

Reduce Maintenance

Soil stabilization can reduce the need for ongoing maintenance of roads, buildings, and other structures, as the stabilized soil provides a more stable foundation.

Environmental Sustainability

Reduces the need for excavation and removal of soil, which can help reduce the environmental impact of construction projects. Additionally, the use of stabilizing agents such as fly ash and lime can help reduce the waste generated by other industries.

Cost-Effective

A cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for improving the engineering properties of soil and making it suitable for use in construction projects. The process can provide a stable foundation for roads, buildings, and other structures, reduce maintenance costs, and improve the efficiency of construction projects.
